Every year, the primary real estate market becomes a subject of discussion among both businessmen and ordinary people. The total number of real estate put in operation fluctuates from year to year due to several economic, social and political factors.
In this article we will try to show which are the actual numbers of apartments and houses into operation both in Chisinau and around Moldova according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that according to preliminary data, in 2020, 6906 dwellings (individual apartments and houses) were put into operation, with 2088 dwellings (or 23.2%) less than in 2019. The total area of housing put into operation in 2020 amounted to 545.5 thousand m², or 20.7% less than in 2019.

In 2020, the total number of dwellings put into operation increased by 23.2% compared to the similar period of 2019.
In the period from January to December 2019, 8994 residential properties with a total area of 688.2 thousand square meters were put into operation.
The largest share of housing commissioned was registered in urban area - 7990 housing units with a total area of 567.3 thousand square meters. m.

In 2019, the total number of houses put into operation increased by 33.2% compared to the same period in 2018.
Between January and December 2018, 6008 homes with a total area of 471.6 thousand m2 were put into operation, of which 4532 apartments and 1476 individual housing.
In the urban area 5330 dwellings with a total area of 389.1 thousand m2 were put into operation. In the rural area, 678 dwellings with a total area of 82.5 thousand m2 were put into operation.

In 2018, the number of dwellings in operation decreased by 17.5% compared to the same period of 2017.
According to NBS data, 7236 dwellings (apartments and individual housing dwellings) with a total area of 571.8 thousand m² were put into operation in January-December 2017.
In the urban area, 6841 dwellings with a total area of 521.0 thousand m2 were put into operation. In the rural area - 395, with a total area of 50.8 thousand m2.

In 2017, the total number of dwellings in operation increased by 19.9% compared to the level recorded in 2016.
According to the data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, 5402 dwellings with a total area of 497.5 thousand m² were put into operation in 2016, of which 4152 are apartments and 1240 are individual dwellings.
In the urban area 4830 dwellings with a total area of 422.3 thousand m2 were put into operation. In the rural area - 572, with a total area of 75.2 thousand m2.

In 2016, we have a decrease in the total number of dwellings by 18.4% compared to the same period of 2015.
