According to the National Bureau of Statistics, between January and September 2021, 3,279 building permits were issued for residential and non-residential buildings. Thus, this year there is an increase in applications by 50.1% compared to January-September 2020.
In January-September 2021, 2442 building permits were issued for residential buildings and, respectively, 837 building permits for non-residential buildings, increasing by 62.2% and by 23.3% compared to January-September 2020.
Construction permits for residential buildings by region
If we refer specifically to the regions of the country, then in January-September 2021 there are increases in the number of building permits for residential buildings in:
- Chisinau municipality (+ 761 authorizations or 2.2 times more),
- North (+25 or + 12.6%),
- Center (+145 or + 39.7%),
- South (+25 or + 21.6%).
At the same time, in ATU Gagauzia were issued with 20 building permits for residential buildings (or 11.8%) less compared to the respective period of the previous year.
Construction permits for non-residential buildings by region
During the same period, there are increases in the number of building permits for non-residential buildings in the following regions:
- Chisinau (+16 permits or + 13.0%),
- North (+68 or + 52.7%),
- Center (+ 72 or + 40.7%),
- ATU Gagauzia (+28 or + 23.7%).
At the same time, in the South region, 26 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings (or 19.7%) less compared to the respective period of the previous year.

Thus, between January and September 2021, the number of building permits issued for buildings in urban and rural areas increased by 60.4% and respectively by 36.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
